DSAMP ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ (Point Leo) Event 2026

DSAMP’s “Let’s Go Surfing” Event #1 of 2026 kicked off at Point Leo with clean lines, bright skies, and an excited crew ready to start the season. The beach buzzed early as boards were waxed, jerseys handed out, and groms stretched on the sand while parents and coaches shared coffee and smiles.

Conditions delivered a friendly mix of knee to waist high runners with occasional bigger sets, perfect for confidence building and progression. Heats were organized smoothly, giving every surfer multiple chances to paddle out, catch waves, and apply the focus points covered in the pre-surf briefing. Coaches emphasized positioning, safe paddling, and making smart choices in the lineup, and those lessons showed immediately.

Across divisions, surfers worked on strong takeoffs, trimming down the line, and linking turns where the waves allowed. Several first-time competitors celebrated their very first successful rides to the beach, while returning surfers pushed themselves to read sections and finish waves cleanly. The encouragement in the water was constant, with high fives, cheers, and clear communication creating a supportive atmosphere.

Between heats, the DSAMP team ran short beach sessions covering ocean awareness, heat strategy, and recovery. These moments helped surfers reset, stay hydrated, and reflect on what went well before heading back out. The focus remained on learning and enjoyment, not results, reinforcing DSAMP’s core values.

By the end of the morning, tired arms and sandy feet told the story of a full, productive session. Awards and acknowledgements highlighted effort, sportsmanship, and improvement, leaving everyone feeling included and motivated.

Event #1 set a positive tone for the 2026 “Let’s Go Surfing” series at Point Leo. With solid waves, great energy, and clear development goals, the season is off to a strong start, and the stoke is officially rolling.

Surfers, families, and volunteers left the beach already talking about the next call, the next swell, and the next chance to improve. That shared anticipation is what keeps the DSAMP community connected, learning together, and returning to the ocean with confidence and respect, while building skills, friendships, and lifelong coastal awareness.
